Gameday Primer: Wolves - Lakers

Picture
By: Zach More

After a loss last night against an extremely good LA Clippers team, the Wolves will face another LA team in the Lakers. This coming not to far after the Wolves played very well and beat Orlando on the back end of a back to back. Wiggins made the point after that game of saying he likes these situations because it helps him get in a rhythm. He also mentioned that the team has young legs and should not be effected. We'll see if that holds true tonight.

What: Wolves - Lakers
Where: Target Center - Minneapolis, Minnesota.
When: 6:00 PM CT
Where to watch: Fox Sports North
Where to Listen: 830 WCCO Radio

What to watch for:

Point guard situation: Ricky made his return last night, which is good news for the Wolves. Tonight, we should be watching to see how many minutes Ricky plays and if that elbow is bothering him at all after playing last night. Also, with the point guards it doesn't take an expert to see Tyus is outplaying Dunn. If the Wolves are focused on winning, Tyus should be the back-up point guard. If Dunn continues to get minutes it's obvious they are more interested in developing the rookie.

Defense: As we all know Thibs is a coach known for his defense. Well, that defense has not showed up consistently yet this year in games. The Lakers are off to a surprising 6-4 start under new coach Luke Walton and they have some players that can light up the scoreboard. Stopping the Lakers guards will be key.

Rotation: Thibs has pretty much set the rotation lately at 9 at the most 10 players. With so many games in a short amount of time, will he go 11 deep? Or maybe just give the back-up 5 more minutes?

Prediction

With the Wolves struggling on the defensive end so far this season, it's hard to ever predict a win. However, that is exactly what I am doing tonight.

Wolves win 112-104. KAT puts up big numbers while efficient. LaVine leads the team in scoring.

Thanks for reading. Enjoy the game. Go Wolves.
