Hey, the Wolves play tonight. It's been a while since the last time I've said that. A full 8 days, actually, which is far too long in my opinion. But yes, the Wolves (17-37) are in Memphis tonight to take on the Grizzlies (31-22), who just recently dealt Jeff Green for a return of Lance Stephenson and a future 1st round draft pick. The draft pick is a lottery-protected 2019 first-rounder but ensures that Memphis acquires an asset for Green, who can become a free agent in July.
The Grizzlies have won 10 out of their past 13, while the Wolves have won 3 of 4 against some of the NBA's top-tier teams.
For Memphis, Marc Gasol is out tonight with a foot injury, while Chris Anderson (knee) and Lance Stephenson (hip) are both questionable.
For Minnesota, Bjelica (foot), KG (knee), and Pek (foot) are all out, while Kevin Martin (wrist) is probable. With that, expect Adreian Payne to get a lot of playing time tonight with the Wolves being frontcourt deprived because of injuries.
Lucas Seehafer (CH) gives his thoughts on what Wolves fans should watch for now that the trade deadline has passed.
Steve McPherson (ESPN 1500) explains why you shouldn't be so quick to write off Ricky Rubio.
Britt Robson (Minnpost) discusses why Sam Mitchell and Zach Lavine have the most at stake in the final 28 games of the season.
Start. Reading. Now.
It was short, but that's all I have for today.
Prediction: Wolves catch Grizzlies at right time, come out on top 106-98. KAT and Gorgui take advantage of Gasol's absence, bullying Memphis's big men down low all night with their significant size/height advantage.
Thanks for reading. Enjoy the game. Go Wolves.
