The Minnesota Timberwolves community is extremely fortunate to have a large collection of dedicated, knowledgeable Wolves writers who cover the team year in and year out. Here at OTP, we are giving fans an opportunity to find out more about these talented individuals. Our fifth profile feature is OTP analyst Zach More, who possesses one of the most intelligent basketball minds throughout the Wolves blogosphere.

Zach! I appreciate the time! Should be fun!

I appreciate the opportunity to do this. This is an awesome segment you have done. We got some pretty big names to do it.

How long have you been covering the Wolves for On The Prowl?

This upcoming season will be my third season covering the Wolves for On The Prowl. I started when it was just starting as just a Twitter account with a couple followers. It is amazing how far we have come.

What sparked your interest in analyzing and how did you get affiliated with OTP?

I’ve always been a huge fan of basketball whether it was playing, coaching or just being a fan. I have always loved the Wolves and would tweet out a lot during games when watching. I found the OTP account on Twitter through a retweet from someone and started responding to a lot of their tweets. After a lot of talks with Dan just talking Wolves and NBA he asked me if I wanted to become a part of the OTP team. It was an easy decision to say yes and it’s been great ever since.

What will readers find by viewing your content?

My part with the OTP team is mostly analyzing games/trades/ideas and putting thoughts out on the Twitter site. I do a nice bulk of the communication with the tweets that we receive whether it be questions, opinions or anything else. My favorite little bit that I do is the “Takeaways” from the games. It is a nice little summary of things I saw in the game that I noticed, liked and didn’t like. This puts a nice little wrap on the game and gets all of thoughts out there quickly to our followers before many articles are written for that night’s games. Doing this on twitter provides a challenge with the character limit which sometimes makes what I am trying to say. I am looking forward to getting into more of the writing part of OTP this next season.

What keeps you driven and motivated to cover the team with excellence?

Once a Wolves fan always a Wolves fan. Even through this dreadful stretch of non playoff seasons I have always stuck with this team. Seeing the progress we have made over the past years to get young talent here has made it easier to stick with it. We all knew this team was going to develop into something special and now it’s time to watch that all unfold.

Do you have any interest in possibly moving up in the sports media world to cover the team at a bigger platform?

As much fun as this would be, with my current job and its time demand moving up into a bigger role is not something that will be realistic. I am completely fine with this as it’s a passion to do analysis for these games and I am happy that OTP gave me the opportunity to do this. This has never seemed like a job to me as I have enjoyed every minute.

The Wolves are one of the NBA’s best young squads. Why should fans be sure to follow the team next year?

This team is going to be intriguing to follow for so many reasons in the upcoming year. This next year I think fans need to focus on the development/growth of Wiggins and KAT. I think KAT is already a top 25 NBA player and that was as a rookie. He should be even better this upcoming year with a year of experience and an offseason of working on his game to improve the areas he felt he needed help on. With Kat’s emergence last season and Wiggins not taking the big next step I think some people are forgetting about how good of a player he could be. If he develops a 3 point shot and with the help of Thibs making him an elite defensive player, Wiggins still has the ability to become an All-Star player. The other thing fans need to follow the most is how Thibs changes this team. We all know he is a great defensive minded coach who has had great success. It will be fun to watch what he can do to help this team on the defensive end and what his offensive strategies and sets are. A coach like Thibs is just what a young team needed.

Do you have a favorite Wolves memory in the time you’ve been covering them?

During my time covering the Wolves for OTP there hasn’t been a ton of winning but still have a couple of favorite memories. I think my absolute favorite though is KG turning back the clock and dunking over Blake Griffen and him getting the technical for trash talking right after. That was vintage KG and was a great reminder of how good he was in his prime.

What was the most enjoyable storyline in the past NBA season and why?

Best storyline for the whole season was the GSW’s quest of breaking the Bulls 72 win record. Kobe scoring 60 in his final game was also great.

Which are some of your favorite NBA and Wolves related writers you follow?

Darren Wolfsen is a great follow for the Wolves and everything sports. Britt Robson and Patrick Fenelon are also right up there. Of course I like all the OTP writers and the work the do. Canis Hoopus and Punch-Drunk Wolves are also great follows.
